Our PurPose

These colorful blankets made with love will be given to people diagnosed with cancer receiving infusion treatments to help them cope with stress and to feel better emotionally. The blankets will be donated to Capital Health in Pennington. These donations will be a sense of comfort and also be helpful to families who do not have extra resources and are not able to afford blankets and other comfort items.

Included in each bag: Blanket Blessing

"Bless this blanket and the person who warms themselves beneath it. Let the receiver be reminded of love and care, and feel the embrace of compassionate arms around them. Give them strength to face the unknown with the courage and belief that they are not alone. Although we may never meet the receiver, know that we, the blanket makers, will keep them in our thoughts and prayers throughout the coming months"

About ME

Hello! My name is Emily, and I am a Girl Scout Ambassador.

To the left is a picture of me delivering the 57 handmade fleece blankets made through the Fall 2022 workshops.

I started the project “Blankets to Feel Better to Heal Better” as my Gold Award during my senior year of high school. I started leading workshops throughout the community to create tie-knot blankets for Capital Health cancer patients. I connected different communities: my church, Girl Scouts, and a local hospital; establishing these connections will allow for future collaboration. Cancer patients who undergo treatment often face other burdens regarding mental health, leading to an increased importance for this project. I learned that a small act, such as making a blanket, makes an impact. My dad was diagnosed with cancer, so being able to use this project to help others like him has special meaning. Girl Scouts has helped me become a leader and a proactive member of my community.
